Should I Hire A Trainer?
Let’s be honest we have all experienced that moment when we joined a gym and arrived only to find out we really don’t know what to do or how to do it. We know that we want to work out but we aren’t sure where to begin. We randomly start choosing exercises and weights that happen to catch our eye or as a last resort, we choose what we already know how to use.
Before you start heading to the gym or even think about hiring a Personal Trainer - consider whether or not you have a clear fitness plan and clear fitness goals that you are trying to achieve.
Personal Trainers can be expensive and for good reason - you are paying them for their Time, Knowledge & most Importantly their Experience as a trainer. If you have clear fitness goals or a plan that you can give to a Personal Trainer whom you have decided you want to work with then that will help save a tremendous amount of time and money. Hiring a Personal Trainer without any real goals or a solid fitness plan can create a lot of confusion and could become messy.
The more precise you can be about what you want will help to ensure the best possible outcome between yourself and your trainer. Presenting your own plan to a trainer will help the trainer understand what you’re trying to achieve and why, this will allow the trainer to choose the most appropriate exercises, weights, and training plan for you. It’s only at this point that you should consider hiring a trainer as part of your fitness plan.
There are other reasons to hire a trainer Short Term instead of long term:
Learn about the gym your joining - the operations & how the gym functions
Learn how to use the equipment and machines so that you know what you're doing and how to do it - avoid injury
Have a trainer design a workout routine for you based on your fitness goals and then show you how to follow that routine without having a Personal Trainer present every time you workout
Hire a trainer short term until you feel comfortable in your surroundings and confident to do it on your own
The goal here is to be as clear and precise as you can be with what you want after all you’re paying this person to help you achieve something that is really important to you - your health.
Should you hire a Personal Trainer? If you know what you want and you are clear about the details of how you want to achieve your fitness goals then hiring a trainer is the right thing to do but if you are not clear and still deciding what exactly you want to achieve through fitness then it is better to wait and do more Self-Evaluation.
If you're really on the fence and want to begin training but aren’t willing to commit just yet then hiring a trainer on a short-term basis is definitely the way to go - in this way you can start your fitness plan and determine whether having a trainer long term is right for you.
